Job Title: Data Analytics Engineer
Position Overview
Our work aims to improve safety and performance in the oil and gas industry through risk analysis. A major part of this involves creation, curation, and thorough analysis of our proprietary data store. On any given day, our data engineers work to understand the details of what new public and private data sources mean, build the software processes that scrape this data, store this data, and find creative ways in which that data can be analyzed and used.

- Mandatory Requirements
- Comfort with test-driven development of software
- Detail-oriented and quality-oriented data-related software-build outs should be not be marked as complete until data (i.e. meaning, irregularities, etc.) are thoroughly understood and software is adequately tested and documented
- Able to work both independently and as part of a high-functioning team
- Excellent oral and in particular, written communication skills
- Data Analytics
- Build statistical models, logic towards making better business decisions
- Building templates, dashboards for operational and data reporting
- Prior experience with querying and data mining..
- Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analyzing large datasets (R, SPSS, SAS, etc.)
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
- Experience in the following areas: modeling and programming, algorithms, visualizations, machine learning, etc.
- Python scraping
- Determine plans of action of regular data updates and sequence of operations for scraping linked data sources
- Implement above plans
- Document oddities, edge cases, and other interesting qualities of data sources as scrapers are built and tested
